It is an understatement to say that fans in the North East of Newcastle are happy about being potentially taken over. The relationship with current owner Mike Ashley has been at a low for several seasons with many believing that he is taking more than giving to the club.

This week, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Newcastle fans were joyed to hear that that are edging closer and closer to being taken over by Amanda Staveley, with a board including the Saudi Arabia’s sovereign fund and the Reuben Brothers. The reports are for a £300 million bid which is currently being negotiated.

Who is buying Newcastle United?

The deal for the purchase of Newcastle United is headed by Amanda Staveley, Saudi Arabia’s Private Investment Fund and the Reuben Brothers. Once agreed the final details will be passed to the Premier League whom can then authorise the sale.  The Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia has total estimated assets of £256billion meaning they would instantly be one of the richest owned teams in the world.

New Investment

Even though Newcastle United are in the highest division of the Premier League, fans are disappointed in how the club is run and funded. Whilst there have been record signings that have not worked out the overall atmosphere at St James’ Park is at a low.

There are already reports of Newcastle United being able to compete with the biggest of teams financially meaning that the new players could be world beaters.  Here are some of the players already being touted for a summer transfer:

The Scotland international is highly rated even though he has been injured. Whilst the player is a risk, many pundits believe he is one of the best in the division and a great buy if they can get.

Nathan Ake

Nathan Ake is fast becoming recognised as one of the best defenders in the league. Almost all big teams are keeping an eye on the AFC Bournemouth player and several will be sure to place bids as soon as the season finishes.

In terms of players Newcastle United will always struggle when going head to head with other major teams but with the added investment reported this could be a great time for the fans and a busy summer.
